Parson Guga Mazzarese Hughes Shoreline PCQ finals

February 23rd, for most of the day, the weather cooperated for the inaugural Shoreline PCQ at the Essex Platform Tennis Club. But under a light rain, Guga Goncalves and Mark Parsons defeated Nick Mazzarese and John Hughes in an entertaining final, 7‐6, 6‐2.  In the semifinals, Goncalves and Parsons beat Rob Caserta and Peter Harvey. In the other, Hughes and Mazzarese took down Matt Holmes and Geoff Cartier.

There was strong paddle throughout the back draws as well. Drew Sawyer and Bill Horne won the Quarterfinal Reprieve over Brad Hoffman and Dan Nash. Bob Sheehy and John Schaper won the Consolation by defeating Will Katz and Adam King. Dennis Herschel and Craig Waddinton earned the Consolation Reprieve by beating John Crawford and Zach Rosenow.

Thanks to Rob Coster, Phil Johnson, and Chad Lyons for all of their help and the Guilford Racquet Club and the Old Lyme Country Club for generously opening up their courts for the tournament.

I’d also like to thank Nell McGriff of Stone Temple Sanctuary and Scott Bauer of Red Hook Brewery.  Nell provided much needed Chair Massages to many participants in the afternoon.  Scott provided us with a tasty keg of Blonde Ale to finish off the day.  And then there was Jim Narracci who insisted we had some 1800 Tequila to wash down our losses and victories.

Thanks Richard!
